Digital Preservation of historic documents has been moving to the forefront over the last number of years as digital technology advances have allowed for electronically sharing collections over the internet that previously could only be viewed at archives and libraries. While digital preservation does not take the place of preserving the original physical material, it now is part of an overall preservation strategy. Collections or sampling of collections can now be shared with archivists, historians, life learners, scholars and the general public around the globe. Digital collections allow immediate access to anyone, anywhere with link to the internet to view, learn and study from a "virtual archive". Digital collections on the web serve to attract people from anywhere to visit these archives or contact them to gain more knowledge from the holder of the materials that may previously not been accessible due to travel restrictions or were not known to exist.
Perimeter Digital has the experience and expertise to safely handle and digitize your one-of-a-kind originals. Our attention to detail, industry standards and commitment to quality, ensures that your online historic collections will become an industry leader in the digital preservation world.
